Third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has worsened the outlook for the first half of this year for Europe. With new variants being discovered the need for mass vaccination becomes vital. Vaccinations hold the key for a rebound in consumption and investment in the second half of 2021.

In the meantime, rising government bond yields complicate things for policy makers. Public and private debt ratios are at record levels once again. These all lead to severe consequences of high indebtedness and challenges ahead.
