The economy of the Asia-Pacific region is recovering. Most countries are easing up on lockdown requirements; only Australia, Hong Kong and the Philippines have broadly reinstated or extended such policies in reaction to growing COVID-19 caseloads. Further, high-frequency data from Google and Apple show rising mobility across much of the region.
If one dwells on the standard measure of GDP growth, however, it will be difficult to determine the recovering business cycles across the region. We look at a number of high frequency variables throughout APAC to estimate how quickly each country in the region is growing and who is leading the recovery.
I am inviting you to view the complete analysis here and join us for further discussion at our upcoming APAC Economic Outlook webinar.
