Social considerations are a driving force across public finance. Issues such as demographics, employment and income, affordable housing, education, health, public safety and quality of basic infrastructure shape the credit profiles of nearly all issuers. The coronavirus pandemic has the potential to profoundly impact social risks, consumer preferences, spending priorities, and credit in a number of ways, both over the next one to two years and longer term.

Topics include:

  • Primary social risks confronting public finance issuers, including state and local governments, colleges and school districts, hospitals and the housing sector
  • How social considerations could change credit profiles, both near term and longer term
  • Mitigants to social risks, such as governance

Speakers:

  • Susan Fitzgerald, Associate Managing Director, Public Finance Group (Moderator)
  • Rachael McDonald, Vice President - Senior Credit Officer
  • Debra Roane, Vice President - Senior Credit Officer
  • David Strungis, Vice President - Senior Analyst
  • Pisei Chea, Assistant Vice President - Analyst
